Lonnie Dean Fields

June 30, 1948 - December 17, 2016

Lonnie D. Fields of Gray, TN, age 68, after a courageous battle with COPD and lung cancer went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2016.

Lonnie was born on June 30, 1948 in Dickenson County, VA. He was a graduate of Ervinton High School in Nora, VA. He proudly served in the US Army having served two tours in Germany and 1 tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Lonnie was retired from the State of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy L. and Erma F. Fields; brother, Randall M. Fields; grandparents, brother-in-laws, Buster & Bill Watts; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Fields of Gray, TN; daughter, Laura (Ray) Combs of Lebanon, VA; sister, Sharon Elaine Murray of Meadowview, VA; sister-in-law, Mary (Libby) Huffman of Blountville, TN; 3 nieces; 3 great nieces; 2 great nephews; 1 nephew; 2 uncles; 2 aunts; several cousins; and a host of special friends too numerous to name.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 8 PM with Pastor Sammy Murray of East End Christian Church officiating. A graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10 AM with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard.
