Everett Allen Adkins

July 14, 1956 - April 30, 2016

Everett Allen Adkins, 59, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2016 peacefully at his home. He was born July 14, 1956 in Whitesburg, Kentucky.

He moved from Kentucky to Fairfax, VA to start his hairstylist career. Allen spent 25 years studying, improving, and developing his talents. He won many awards during this time. Allen was very dedicated and passionate about the art. Later in life, he decided to move to a quieter area and settle down. He moved to Kingsport, TN where he worked with his niece, LaShell Joyner, at her salon (Hands and Tans) as well as many others in the area. He met his partner and best friend, Tim Allen.

Allen was a kind soul who appreciated and respected people for who they were. He was the type of person who would make you smile and naturally want to be friends. Allen loved life as much as he loved others. He spent a great deal of time serving others at the salon, however, he found time to raise African Grey Parrots. He was loved by many and treasured by his family. Allen will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Rousia Adkins; and brother, Kenny Adkins.

Left to cherish his memory is his partner and best friend of 12 years, Tim Allen; daughter, Harmony Winder (West VA); grandson, JonLuca Winder; brothers, Kendall Adkins (Pound, VA) and Dennis Adkins (Pound, VA); sisters, Sis Conley (Kingsport, TN), Roberta Meade (Pound, VA), Delores Mullins (Wise, VA) and Wilma Bryant (Reliance, VA); and many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memory.

A Life Celebration will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (1221 Stewball circle, Kingsport, TN 37660) with Pastor Will Shewey of Shades of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.
