Pastor Tony Neal Gilliam

July 07, 1947 - August 12, 2019

Pastor Tony Neal Gilliam’s membership at the Jonesborough Church of God was transferred to Heaven on August 12th, 2019. He was promoted and relocated to a new city- the City of God! He loves his new home and will reside there for all eternity! He wants all the family to make plans to meet by the River of Life.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Henry Gilliam. Carolyn was Tony’s partner in marriage and ministry. He was proud of his beautiful and talented wife. Carolyn never left Tony’s side throughout his final battle with illness,serving as advocate and armor bearer. Also, left to cherish his memory are his two children whom Tony loved and admired: his number# 1 son, Charles David Neal Gilliam, whom he called “Lightning,” and his cherished lovely daughter, Jennifer Eileen Gilliam, whom he referred to as “My Jennifer.” He was so proud of his beautiful little girl- Princess Jennifer Eileen! He was also blessed with a son in law, Israel Caughran. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters : Patricia Gilliam Townsend (David), Pam Gilliam Pearce ( Bill), Penny Gilliam Hagy (Jimmy) and Sabrina Gilliam Smith( David) and Tina Johnson Gilliam a very special sister in law. Tony was a bit spoiled by all these sisters who loved him dearly and his 2 fur babies, Moquito & Sassy.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents: Rev C.V. Gilliam and Eileen Pearce Gilliam and his only brother, David V Gilliam.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday August 18th from 4pm to 6pm at Johnson City Church of God (1908 Indian Ridge Road). Service to follow at 6pm with Pastor Tony Collins and Pastor Michael Lusk officiating. Special music under the direction of Sabrina Smith.
