Rev. Wayne Monroe Begley, 69, transitioned to his eternal home on Friday, May 3, 2024, in Kingsport, TN.
Wayne, a native of Kingsport born in 1954, was a man of many passions. In his youth, he showcased his athleticism on the football field at Ketron, nurturing a lifelong love for sports. An enthusiastic raccoon hunter and angler, Wayne embraced the outdoors, embodying the spirit of a true sportsman. Throughout his career, he contributed his talents to various local businesses, known for his straightforward demeanor and genuine kindness.
However, Wayne's greatest devotion lay in his faith and ministry. Wayne's held an unwavering faith as a born-again Christian of 23 years. Answering the call to spread the word of God, he dedicated the last two decades to nurturing Old Path Ministries, devoting his time to furthering the Kingdom of God. His heart for God shone through his caring nature, making him a beloved figure among family, friends, and congregants.
Beyond his spiritual calling, Wayne found joy in family and culinary pursuits. A loving husband of 48 years to Kathryn, a devoted father to Randall, Bridget, and Rebecca, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. His passion for cooking, especially alongside his daughter in her business, brought him immense pleasure and fulfillment.
Wayne had a an unwavering fan loyalty to the University of Tennessee athletics.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Floyd Begley and Betty Begley (Chandler), sisters Connie Begley and Kay Clark, and son Jeffrey Morelock.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved wife Kathryn, children Randall (Denise), Bridget (Bo), and Rebecca (Jason), grandchildren Skyler, Brendan, Lonnie, Raeann, Lucas, Abby, Brandon Ferguson, great-grandchildren Raelynn, Karson, and Skylar, siblings Ronnie (Rosella), David (Sandy), Marilyn, Angie (Darrell), as well as his special brother Gerald (Glenna), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 7th, at Trinity Memorial Centers from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor David Begley, with special music by Chris Holder and guest speaker Ronnie Begley.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 8th, at Carter Cemetery, with attendees asked to gather at Trinity by 11:00 am for the procession. Pallbearers will include family and friends.
