Wayne Emory Huyler, of Abingdon, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2020. Wayne was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Harold and Wray Huyler. He led one of the fullest lives anyone could ever live, and always had a smile on his face. Over the course of his life, he served on a submarine in the United States Navy during Vietnam, taught plumbing for the Job Corps, earned his black belt in Isshin-Ryū karate, was a professional street fighter and kickboxer, and a bull rider. He had many hobbies and passions including karate, being a licensed pilot (he once walked away from a plane crash), playing racquetball, golf, and most of all, playing the cello; he even handcrafted cellos and violins. These are just a few of the many things he loved doing and accomplished in his wonderful life. More than any of this, he was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, as well as a great friend to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his very special sister, Elaine. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Helton and husband, Joey, of Lebanon, VA; son, Harold Huyler and wife, Tina of Abingdon, Va; two step-daughters, Carol Ann Campbell, of Ohio, and Tammy Lynn Kiter and husband, Mike, of North Carolina; grandsons, John Bebber, Nathaniel Huyler, Bobby Fields, Alex Huyler, Patrick Campbell, Nick Kiter, and Westley Kiter; granddaughters, Samantha Fields, Megan Campbell, and Rylee Kiter. He also leaves behind several great grandchildren, Layla, Preston, Brialey, Braelynn, Caedyn, Connor, Madalynn, Rowyn, Jaxson, Maximus, and Eric. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to be serving the family.
