Wanda Sue Jennings

Wanda Sue Jennings, 58, of Nickelsville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
Sue was born and raised in southwest Virginia, where she lived her whole life. She was married to Harold Jennings for thirty seven years, and the couple had two children, Stephanie and Michael. Sue was a certified nursing assistant for over twenty-five years. Sue took pride in caring for her patients, and she was often referred to as "Momma Sue" by her patients and co-workers. At the time of her passing, Momma Sue was employed by Encompass Health of Kingsport, TN. She was also employed by J&P Market in the Nickelsville community for several years. Sue was a very hard worker. Even in times of sickness, she persevered. What she enjoyed most was being "Mamaw" to Thorin, Clayton, and Tucker. She loved her grandboys. They were the twinkle in her eye and she never missed an opportunity to see them. Often times before or after working a twelve hour night shift, she would rush home to care for her babies. Sue was selfless, caring and loving. She loved her friends and family fiercely. Sue was a devoted member of Gate City United Pentecostal Church.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Cora Alice Finch; brother, Charlie Pat Finch; sister, Mary Ann Wilder; nephew, Daniel Lee Finch.
Those left to cherish Sue's memory include her loving husband, Otis Harold Jennings of Nickelsville; daughter, Stephanie Leanne Jennings (Adam Byrd) of Nickelsville; son, Michael Blake Jennings (Cassidy Parks); grandbabies, Thorin Gage Byrd, Clayton Walker Jennings, Tucker Cash Jennings; brothers, William "Tootie" Finch (Maxie) of Nickelsville, Bobby Joe Finch (Jane) of Castlewood, David Finch (Debbie) of Castlewood, Robert Finch (Sandra) of Nickelsville; sisters, Marie Jennings (Junior) of Nickelsville, Jean Finch of Nickelsville; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Gate City United Pentecostal Church, 1553 E Jackson Street, Gate City, VA, with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM. Pastor Danny Grizzle and Reverend Dennis Grizzle will be officiating; music will be provided by the Gate City UPC choir. A graveside committal service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Grassy Creek Cemetery, 1445 S 71, Castlewood, VA. Pallbearers are Nathaniel Bragg, William Johnson, Wendel Burke, Billy Byington, Travis Grizzle, and Steve Crawford; honorary pallbearers are Phil Broadwater, Bruce Ekers, Darrell Daugherty, Johnny Grizzle, Richard Sloan, Dennis Grizzle, Sam Dockery, Dale Nuckles.
