Vistia Imogene Lawson

December 13, 1927 — October 19, 2019

Vistia Imogene Lawson, 91, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19th, 2019. Vistia was born in 1927 in MacRoberts, KY to the late Arrie and Paris Vance. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School class of 1945. After school she was married to Roy Cross for 29 years and had 3 perfect children. After Roy passed away she remarried James Lawson for almost 29 years until he passed away. Vistia loved to work with her hands, she was an excellent craftsman. Among other things she made and played Dulcimers, crochet, quilting, baskets, and sewing. She played Dulcimer with the Renaissance Strings Band at Kingsport Senior Center. She loved working with people throughout her life. Two of the most memorable places she loved to work at were Munfords Hardware and Roses Department Store. She had good relationships with her customers and co-workers and made many friends. She especially loved her Church Family and going to church every Sunday. She attended Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church for 80 years. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday October 21st from 5pm to 7pm at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church (154 Anco Place, Kingsport, TN). Funeral will follow at 7pm with Pastor Todd Jennings officiating. Graveside service will be held at noon on Tuesday at Roller Cemetery (off Bridwell Heights Road in Fall Creek). Pallbearers will be Brian Cross, Eric Cross, Ethan Hall, Thomas Hall, Tony Cross, and Kenny Britt. Vistia is also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Cross; sisters, Marie Horne and Ruby Tittle. Left to cherish her stories and memories are her children, Dennis Cross and wife Geneva (Kingsport,TN), Randale Cross and wife Lesia (Kingsport, Tn), Theresa Robin Britt and husband Kenneth (Gray,TN); grandchildren, Tony Cross, Rebecca Cross, Brian Cross, Eric Cross, Angela Hall, and Ashley Turner; great grandchildren, too numerous to count; brothers, Arthur A. Vance and Harold Vance; several nieces and nephews. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Lawson family.
