Virginia Mat Smith

Virginia "Jenny" Mat Smith, 69, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Jenny was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Otis "Bud/" Patsy Louise Greever. She married Danny Lee Smith and the couple had three sons, Sherril, Christopher, and Michael. She loved her family deeply, and she also loved her dogs. Jenny will be fondly remembered for her love of coffee. Mostly, she is remembered as being very strong, determined, and positive in her outlook on circumstances. She would want everybody to know, "I'm fine."

Jenny is preceded in death by both of her parents as well as a brother and sister, and a grandson, Ethan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving sons, Sherril Smith, Christopher Smith (Janice) and Michael Smith (Tina); loving ex-husband, Danny Smith; grandchildren, Sophia and Dalton Smith, Aaron Smith (Leshae), Beth Smith, Abigail Smith; great-grandson, Braxton Peavler; sister, Emogene Bright (Lanny); brother, Roger Compton (Tiffany); sister, Zola Ann Baker; her beloved dog, Bella.

The family will receive friends at 12 PM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral Services will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Jackie Flanery officiating. Attendees will leave in procession for Smith Cemetery, Hiltons, Virginia, where a graveside committal service will be conducted at 3 PM.
