Tony James Benfield

Tony James Benfield, 72, of Kingsport, TN, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Tony grew up in Hawkins County and graduated from Church Hill High School in 1967. Tony worked for Holston Defense (B.A.E.) for over 20 years and was currently employed by Triad Freightliner of TN. He loved his family very much, and he will be missed dearly. Tony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rowland and Nellie Benfield, and maternal grandparents, Dan and Ada Flanigan both sets of whom raised him into adulthood; father, James R. Benfield passed away when Tony was 6 months old; fur babies, Archie and Carlos. Tony is survived by wife and the love of his life for 40 years, Karen Benfield; “grandest” daughter, Devin Salyers “Pooh Pot” his pride joy; daughters, Tonya Johnson and husband Robby, Lisa Wilson and husband Charles; son, Jamie Salyers and wife Marla; granddaughters, Brooke Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Haysha Salyers, Rebekah Salyers; special kitties, “Prissy” and “Gus”; special cousin, Hank Benfield and a host of Benfield cousins and family; special friends, Bobby Williams, Charlie Lane, Patrick Haggerty. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers Tony had asked for donations to be made to his wife.
