Thomas Jay Laney

Thomas Jay, "T.J." Laney, 35, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

An avid Tennessee Vol fan, T.J., was a "Vol for life." He loved fishing, disc golf, and anything outdoors. T.J. was a talkative, funny, spontaneous ball of energy. Anybody who knew T.J. knew he was all about his tattoos. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly along with his dogs, Boss, Bella, and Letti.

T.J. is preceded in death by both of his parents, Thomas Henry Laney and Penny Denise Laney; brother, Little Tom; grandmother, Thelma Smith Laney; uncle, Lee Grissom

Those left to cherish T.J.'s memory are his grandfather, R.J. Laney; grandmother, Wanda Grissom; fiance, Candice Barile and her daughter, Larissa Barile; aunts, Kathy Tomlin, Sandra Hammitt, Lisa Lane, Kristie Woods, Audrey Smith; uncles, Mark Laney, Michael Grissom, Steve Grissom; many cousins and a multitude of fellow VFL friends.

The family will receive friends at 2 PM on Sunday, August ;27, 2023, at Trinity Memorial Centers, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, TN. A service will follow at 4 PM with Leland Salyers officiating.
