Terry Kay "TK" Simpson, 74, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with His Lord on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness.
TK was the youngest of many siblings. He was raised in Church Hill, Tennessee where he attended and played as quarterback for Church Hill High School. Following graduation in 1968, TK was drafted into the United States Army and served the country overseas in Vietnam. He was an accomplished and capable soldier receiving many military commendations to include; A Vietnam Service Medal, A Bronze Star Medal, A Combat Infantryman's Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Multiple Good Conduct Medals, and he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He attained the rank of Platoon Sergeant during his years of service. Upon his return he resumed his education while being employed at Eastman Kodak. TK was a chemist who worked there for 20 years. He would move on to work for Craftmatic-Adjustable Beds as the regional sales manager of the South East for 20 years. From 2013 to 2014 he pastored at New Harvest Fellowship Church. TK would retire from working after 2014 for medical reasons.
He was a very devout Christian who loved his family and friends. TK helped everyone he could whether it was giving of his time, his good nature, or his faith. He found laughter was good medicine. He loved southern cooking especially the sweets, cobblers, and especially peanut butter fudge. He enjoyed his motorcycle days and pulling for the Tennessee Vols. He was a music enthusiast. TK presided over many marriages and funerals. His laughter and life are both remarkable and memorable.
TK is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Dorothy Simpson; his brothers, George Simpson and Gale Simpson; his sisters, Virginia Searcey, Ruth Crigger, Virgil-May Jobe, and Barbara (Jerri) Brummitt.
Left to cherish TK's memory are his loving wife, Terri Simpson; his children, Greg (Joy Darice) Simpson, Joy Ann (Brandy) Jennings, Kevin Gamble, Kyle (Crystal) Gamble, and Abbey Obunge; his sisters, Marsalean Hooven, Lillian Sexton, and Ilene (Bruce) Huffman ; and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends (One very special friend Andie Carpenter.)
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February the 11th, from 2 PM to 3 PM at Living Praise Assembly of God, 207 New Beason Well Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Bob Yates and Pastor Bryce Bess presiding. Military Honors and VA Interment at Mountain Home National Cemetery will take place on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 at 11 am. Those wishing to participate in the funeral escort are asked to be at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home at 9:45 am, as we will be departing promptly at 10:00 am.
