Stephen Richards

Stephen "Steve" Richards, 61, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Steve was born and raised in Sullivan County and he lived in northeast Tennessee his entire life. A lover of the outdoors, Steve was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed Cherokee Lake where he often fished with lures he'd made himself. He was also a skilled carpenter who could fix anything. He had renovated his own place, converting a shack that he had bought into a beautiful and comfortable cabin. Steve never met a stranger, and he was kind to all. He was a good and loving man.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, David and Opal Richards; brother, William "Bill" Richards; sister, Sheila Jean Richards.
He is survived by his loving fiance, Brenda Hyatt and her children, Wanda Johnson and Don (Kimberly) Scalf; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much; sister, Brenda Lane Mitchell; nephews, Timothy (Jessica) Lane and Anthony (Adrian) Lane; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Joel Kindle; best furry friend, Tootsie.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2023, with a memorial service to follow at 7 PM at Trinity Memorial Centers, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tn, 37660. Pastor Tim Nelson will be officiating.
