Scottie Lynn Hood

Scottie Lynn Hood, 57, of Weber City, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Scottie was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Betty and Hubert Hood in 1965. He was a graduate of Gate City High School with the class of 1984. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during Desert Storm as a part of the 844th Engineering Battalion. He loved to tinker and fix things in his work area downstairs. Scottie loved his grand kids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Betty Hood and Hubert; and his grandparents, Cecil and Blanche Estepp.

Scottie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sonya Hood; his children Lyndsay (Keely) and Jake Hood; his grandchildren, Zander, Zailyn, and Zoelia; his sisters, Sherry (Phil) Christian, Marquita (O.C.) Templeton, Shelda (Pat) Hensley; several nieces and nephews; and his dog Charlie.

A graveside interment service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Veterans Way, Johnson City, TN. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 3/265 and US Army Reserves. Attendees are asked to arrive at the cemetery at 1:50 PM.
