Sara Frances Thomson

May 25, 1946 - February 10, 2019

Sara Frances Thomson (Pete, Granny, Granny Franny, Franny Baby), 72 of Saltville, VA went home to be with the Lord on February 10th, 2019. She was born on May 25th, 1946 in Bruce, MS. Fran retired from Saltville Insurance Agency & CSE Insurance in Abingdon, VA after 25+ years. She was a member of Madam Russell United Methodist Church in Saltville.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Dollie Bennett, Sister Betty Ivy, Sister Jimmie Boutot, Nephews Sammy Boutot and Scott Bennett. Survivors include her sons Doug Thomson of Concord, NC wife Debi (Ashleigh & Caleb), Daryl Thomson of Hixson, TN wife Amy (Anna & Emily), Sister Walterene Stribling (Roger) of Southaven, MS, Brother Larry Bennett (Donna) of Bruce, MS and many special nieces and nephews.

Fran loved her family, friends and community, especially her grandkids (which you were sure to hear about every chance she got to talk about them), Fran was a very talented artist, she loved painting, making her own jewelry and doing crafts. She volunteered as much as she could but had a special love of volunteering at The Barter Theater as an usher…why not, she always saw a free show.

Special thanks to her doctors, nurses, & hospice nurses. A very special thanks to her dear friend Louise Weaver’s love and support during her long battle. Thanks also to, Shelia Allison, Pam Coleburn, Sue Walton, & Kirk Maiden.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Hospice House (Bristol, TN), Museum of the Middle Appalachians (Saltville, VA), Town Square Center for the Arts (Glade Springs, VA)

A celebration of life service will be held for all to attend on February 16th , 2019 at the Madam Russell United Methodist Church in Saltville, VA. We will receive visitors at 1pm and have a celebration of life at 2pm.
