Ruby Shelor Bailey

June 27, 1947 — September 5, 2014

Ruby S. Bailey, 67, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord on Friday (September 5, 2014). Ruby was born in Carter County, TN on June 27, 1947. Ruby was the daughter of the late Brown W. Adams and his wife Myrtle Eva Oliver Adams. Mrs. Bailey resided in the Kingsport area for most of her life and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church (Blountville). Ruby will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Ruby not only loved life, but also loved everyone around her as they were her own. Ruby opened her heart and her home to anyone, and was like a mother to all. Many times, one would hear her say, "Welcome, my home is your home, are you hungry? Are you tired? Pull up a seat and stay as long as you would like." In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rodney D. Bailey "Ike"; infant sister, Donna Sue Adams; and brother, Daryl Oliver. Left behind to cherish the memories are two sons, Dorvin R. Bailey (Rick) and girlfriend Donna, Rodney Dale Bailey and wife Stephanie; one daughter, Donna and husband Aaron Estep; four wonderful grandchildren that she loved and cherished with all of her heart, Jaron Estep, Britney Estep, Jessika Bailey, and Katelyn Bailey, all of Kingsport; two sisters, Charlotte A. and husband Mike Owens, and Rose Banks, all of Kingsport; three brothers, Earl Adams, Michael Mendenhall, and Scott Mendenhall, all of Kingsport; a wonderful adopted mother and lifelong friend, Mrs. Betty Feathers; several special friends, neighbors, and additional relatives. The family of Mrs. Ruby Bailey will hold a simple graveside service to honor her memory. The service will be held at Gunning National Cemetery on Monday (September 8, 2014) at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Will Shewey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Baileys memory to the following: Friends of Suzanne Cancer Foundation: P.O.
