Evangelist Roger Douglas Henson, 70, of Mt. Carmel, TN went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at his residence after a period of declining health. Roger was born in Ducktown, TN and had been in this area for the last 32 years. He went in to full time evangelism for the past 22 years. He was pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in South Lyon, MI, Liberty Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, MI, and Gunnings Baptist Church in Blountville, TN. Roger loved his family and telling people about the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his son, Micah Henson (2009); parents, Clyde Henson and Montine Henson; and brother, Ray Henson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Henson; daughters, Kimberly Henson and Renae Henson; sister, Shirley Henson of Georgia; brother, Wayne Henson of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 12 noon at Tabernacle Baptist Church. The service is to follow and will be conducted by Pastor Cecil Sturgill, Pastor Terrell Hopkins, Pastor Brian McBride, and Pastor Tony Hutson. Burial will follow at East Tennessee Cemetery with Pastor Preston Moore officiating. Special music provided by the McBride Family. Pallbearers will be preacher friends.
