Rodney Anderson Stilwell Jr., 54, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Rodney was raised in Mount Carmel, Tennessee, by his parents, Rodney “Bub” and Pat Lowery Stilwell, both originally from Saltville, Virginia. After high school, Rodney attended ETSU before joining the US Navy as a Corpsman, where he served proudly from 1990 to 1994 during the Persian Gulf War. Rodney has a son, Rodney A. Trae Stilwell III.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Rodney “Bub,” Sr.; grandparents, Paul and Barbara Lowery and Louise Stilwell, all of Saltville, Virginia.
He is survived by his son, Trae Stilwell (Sabrina Compton) of Kingsport; mother, Pat Stilwell of Mount Carmel; sister, Robin (Jim) Whalen of Church Hill; nieces, Tieran and Tinsley Whalen of Church Hill.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, May; 18, 2023, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 311 Cypress Street, Mount Carmel, Tennessee. A eulogy will be given by brother-in-law, Jim Whalen. A graveside committal will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023, Veterans Way, Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 3/265 and the U.S. Navy. Attendees are asked to arrive at the cemetery to line up in procession by 9:50 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rodney’s honor may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Youth Ministry.
