Rodney "Ike" Bailey, 67, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Bailey was born in Cranberry, West Virginia, on June 5, 1946, the son of the late Dorvin and Euva Bailey. He has resided in the Kingsport area for most of his life. He was retired from K-Mart Corporation. Mr. Bailey was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Bailey was a member of Salem United Methodist Church (Blountville, TN). He will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend who loved life and loved all people. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by infant twin sisters; his sister, Lois Jones; his brothers, Ray Bailey and Harold Bailey; his mother-in-law, Myrtle Sanders; and 3 sisters-in-law, Flora Bailey, Martha Adams, and Donna Mendenhall. Survivors of Rodney "Ike" Bailey include his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Ruby Bailey; 2 sons, Dorvin "Rick" Bailey and girlfriend Donna (Kingsport, TN), and Rodney "Dale" Bailey and wife Stephanie (Kingsport, TN); 1 daughter, Donna Estep and husband Aaron (Kingsport, TN); 4 very special grandchildren that he loved greatly special grandson, Jaron Estep; 3 amazing granddaugthers, Britney Estep, Jessika Bailey, and Katelyn Bailey (all of Kingsport, TN); sisters, Ann Frazier and husband Bill, Jean Waldron and husband Rev. Joel Waldron, Linda Hicks and husband Jim (all of Kingsport, TN); brothers, Roger "Mike" Bailey and wife Faye, Robert "Pete" Bailey and wife Marguerite; a wonderful "adopted mother", Betty Feathers (Kingsport, TN); several special friends, neighbors, and additional family members. The family of Rodney "Ike" Bailey will receive friends from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Salem United Methodist Church. Immediately following the visitation, family and friends will travel in procession to Gunnings Cemetery for a military graveside service. Pallbearers will be members Sullivan North High School JROTC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in honor of Mr. Bailey's memory to either Salem United Methodist Church's Building Fund (230 Boozy Creek Road, Blountville, TN 37617) or to the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center (Mountain Home, TN).
