Robert Vinson Matheny, age 61, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Lynchburg, VA and had been in Kingsport most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, tinkering, the beach and motorcycle riding, but most of all, he loved going to gospel concerts and spending time with his family.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dee Matheny and Lucille Busick Matheny.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Peggy Sue Matheny; son, Davy Matheny (Dee), of Kingsport, TN; daughters, Pamela Franklin (Jamie), and Rose Leedy (Logan), both of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, Briana, Cameron, Blake, Sissy, Bryson, Lilly, and Bella; sisters, Linda Matheny, Rhonda Hass (Lee), both of Kingsport, TN, and Sue Kerns, of Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Roberts request, there will be no formal services.
