Robert Lee Light, 84, of Kingsport, TN, gained his Heavenly Wings on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024.

Born in Kingsport in 1940, Robert was a cherished member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 56 years. He served his church faithfully, cooking breakfast for the meet and eat group every Sunday and working on various construction projects, including installing windows. Robert had a servant's heart, always helping the elderly members of his church whenever he could. His love for his Savior was evident in all he did.

Robert had the gift of conversation and could talk to anyone about anything. He proudly served his country as a medic in the Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he dedicated his time to driving for the Chip Hale Center and NetTrans, helping those in need of transportation.

An avid woodworker, Robert created beautiful clocks and other items. He also enjoyed hunting. Professionally, he worked as an operator at Eastman for over 30 years. Robert lettered in football at Ketron High School and proudly displayed his certificate.

Robert is predeceased by his parents, Willie and Bonnie Light; brothers, J.W., Harvey, and Clifford Light; and sister, Chassie Cody.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Phyllis; daughter, Tina Troutt and husband David; grandchildren, Robert Allyn Troutt and wife Kim, Talisha Troutt; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved church family.

A graveside service at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hammonds Post 3/ Gate City 265 will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 11:00 am. The family requests to meet at Trinity Memorial Centers at 10:00 am for the procession.
