Robert Eugene Akers, 69, of Bristol, TN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Bobby was born on December 19th, 1953. He proudly served in the Army, the 182nd Airborne for 6 years. He worked in the construction and roofing industry which led up to him owning and operating his own roofing business. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and wrestled as "Mr. USA" in All Pro Wrestling. He attended Living Water Baptist Church in Bristol, Tennessee for several years and thought the world of his church family. He loved and appreciated his preacher there, Pete Booher and his wife, Sandy Booher.
He is preceded in death by; his mother and father, Elizabeth R. Akers and James W. Akers; previous spouse, Marie Akers; son, Dewey E. Akers; siblings, William, Frank, Julio, and Kitty; and grandsons, Nicholas, Tristan, and Brandon.
Loved ones left to cherish Bobby's memory are; his wife Joann Akers; children, Robert W. Akers, Jennifer (Johnnie) Gorley, Jamie Roark; special daughter-in law, Robin (Phillip) Funderburk; his grandchildren, Alexis (Lance), Dylan, Dalton, Darrin, Kayla, Laci, Jessie; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and friends who were more like family, that will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Bobby's Life will be held at Living Water Baptist Church of Bristol, Tennessee on Monday, May 15th at 4pm. The family will be receiving friends and family at that time, and welcome anyone that has fond memories and experiences with Bobby to share. Interment will happen at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Friday May 19th, 2023 at 2pm.
The family wants to apologize to anyone that was left from this list, the fact is that Bobby touched soo many lives, there just isn't room to list everyone individually.
The family asks that any contributions or donations towards expenses be forwarded to Joann Akers directly.
