Ricky David Slemp

Ricky David Slemp, 48, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Rick was born in Kingsport, TN and raised in Church Hill. He was a graduate of Volunteer High School Class of 1989. He worked for over 20 years at the Press and Quebecor where he made many friends. He also married Michelle Gross, his high school sweetheart, and started a family. Rick enjoyed sports especially football (Washington Redskins), fishing whenever he could get away, and working on cars. His favorite thing to do though was spend time with his family especially his granddaughter. He took care of them over the years and provided a home. He was loved and will be missed greatly. He is preceded by his wife, Terrie Slemp; his parents, Wanda Sue Crawford and Houston Slemp; son, Christopher Slemp. Rick is survived by his sons, Ricky David Slemp Jr., Bradley Slemp; grandchildren, Serenity Slemp and Joseph Begley; brothers, Robert Williams; sisters, Carol Slemp and Reda White; nephew, Jesse White; aunt, Mary; cousin, William Slemp. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday January 9th from 5pm to 7pm at Belmont Baptist Church (Church Hill, TN). Service will follow with Pastor Dale Webb officiating. Graveside service will be held at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery on Friday January 10th at 11am. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
