Kingsport, Tennessee - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rickey Dwayne Williams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, at the age of 67. His life was a testament to dedication, service, and a strong sense of family.
Born in Duffield, Virginia in 1956, Rickey was the son of Arthur and Ollie Williams. He was raised in an environment that nurtured values of hard work, determination, and love for one another.
Around the age of 18, Rickey joined the United States Army and a served in the National Guard. He was proud of his service and his country.
Throughout his life, Rickey displayed a hard working ethic. He honed his skills as a mechanic, specializing in trucks and heavy equipment. He showed true craftsmanship and expertise. He was able to start and finish any project he set his mind on.
He enjoyed the great outdoors, where he pursued his love for hunting and fishing. His appreciation for nature and its beauty brought him peace and joy.
Yet, perhaps Rickey's most cherished role in life was that of a family man. He was a loving husband to Shirley Williams, a devoted father to Joe and Danielle, and a step-father to Leonard. The joy of his life was his role as a grandfather to Oliver, Liliana, and Aiden.
Rickey had a warm heart and great sense of humor. He had an ability to bring smiles to the faces of those around him, often with a well-timed joke or a playful jest. However, when it came to raising his kids, he was unwavering in his focus and determination, ensuring that he would instill in them the same fundamentals he was taught in growing up.
His hands were skilled, capable of fixing anything that came his way. He was a true tinkerer, often involving his children in building projects and sharing the knowledge of his craft. Above all, Rickey's love for his family knew no bounds. He was always there to lend a helping hand, offering support to anyone in need.
Rickey Dwayne Williams leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. His memory will continue to inspire us to work hard, love deeply, and find joy in every moment.
Rickey is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ollie Williams; brothers, Stanley and Ken.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Williams; son, Joe Williams and wife Allie; daughter, Danielle Williams; step-son, Leonard; grandchildren, Oliver, Liliana, Aiden; brothers, Charles "Ed", Doug, Robert, Gary, and Roger; sister, Betty Fields; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Rickey's life will be held at a later time.
May his soul find eternal rest, and may his spirit live on in the hearts of those he touched.
