Raymond Darrell Church, 73, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Shortly after graduating high school, Darrell served his country in the US Army. He was well known throughout the area as a dynamic and talented singer and over the span of his life, he performed as lead singer and front man for a multitude of bands. He was also a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Two weeks prior to Darrell's passing, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brittany Church, his lifelong "Princess." He was also preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Church and Pauline Hensley Church.
Darrell is survived by his son, Derek Church and wife, Hollie; two grandchildren, Peyton and Isabella Church; brother, David Church and wife, Rita; nephew Neil Church and wife Jenny; niece Cyndi Church; and a host of special band mates and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 3:00 P.M., at the committal shelter at Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Ave., Mountain Home, Tennessee. Those wishing to participate in a brief procession to the shelter are asked to meet at 2:45 P.M. on the historical side.
Directions are as follows:
Enter Veteran's Way from W Market Street and proceed to Memorial Ave (you will see the cemetery on your right). Continue straight through at the intersection of Lamont Street and turn right onto Memorial Way. Take another immediate right into the cemetery and proceed to the fork with yellow poles. Wait in your car at this location for the procession.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
