Phyllis Kay Whetsel, 78, of Kingsport, TN, entered into eternal rest at Holston Valley Medical Center on Monday, June 17, 2019 after a long period of declining health. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School, class of 1959, and was of the Baptist faith. She lived all her life in East Tennessee, worked at the Kingsport Press and Arcata Graphics before retired in 2003. She enjoyed RV traveling, especially in the Western USA. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, James Ray and Pauline (Smith) Morelock; sister, Peggy Morefield; brother, Dean Morelock; two nieces and one nephew. Phyllis is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Kemp Whetsel; sister, Ginger Coppala; brother, Gary Morelock; one niece and three nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday June 20th in Washington County Memory Gardens at 10am. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
