Phyllis Irene Brickey

September 3, 1944 — October 13, 2018

Phyllis Irene Brickey, 74, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 13th, 2018. Phyllis was born in 1944 in Knoxville, TN. She later moved to Scott County where she attended and graduated Dungannon High School class of 1962. It was at this time she met her soulmate, Bob, and eventually wed in 1964. She had four wonderful children and was their biggest fan. She faithfully attended their games, supporting them and clarifying the rules to the ref. Phyllis loved sports in general, especially the Lady Vols. She enjoyed going to the Kingsport Mets games with her whole family. Family was very important to Phyllis, and later her grandchildren would steal her heart. Phyllis worked at First National Bank on Broad Street for 5 years and spent the rest of her career working livestock auctions and raising her kids. She eventually settled in as office manager of Kingsport Livestock Auction for over 30 years, where she made many lifelong friends. Her faith was very important to her life. When she was younger she sang in the choir at Cedar Grove Baptist and recently joined Gravelly Baptist with her husband. She was saved when she was young and is now at rest in her Savior's arms. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hester O. and Rose Blevins; daughter, Melanie Brickey; and brothers, Steve Blevins and Larry Richard Blevins. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bob Brickey; sons, Kevin and wife Delana Brickey, Barry and wife Rebekah Brickey, Josh and Patty Brickey; grandchildren, Matthew and wife Katie, Andrea, Justin, Nathaniel, Hannah, Isaiah, Katen, Judah, and Eli; sister, Nina and husband Jim McGee; brother, Ron and wife Eileen Blevins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Trinity Memorial on Tuesday October 16th from 5pm to 7pm. Life Celebration will follow at 7pm with Pastor David Salley of Gravelly Baptist Church officiating. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 17th at Carter's Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA at 11am. Those wishing to attend are to meet at Trinity at 10:00 am to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Brickey family.
