Philip Mason “Mickey” Turner

May 9, 1942 – July 18, 2019

Philip Mason “Mickey” Turner, 77 of Bristol, Virginia went to his heavenly home and reunited with his beloved wife Joann Turner on 7/18/19 at Bristol Regional Medical Center with his daughter holding his hand, his sons and family at his bedside.

For 6 months our father fought a courageous battle with extraordinary strength and showed an amazing will to live, while keeping a smile on his face. He will forever be known for his humor, jokes, Donald Duck impression and his favorite quote “It’s a habeas corpus”.

He was a very proud Papaw and loved going to his grandsons baseball games (not sure if it was the game or the hot dogs he was there for) and he loved picking his grandchildren up from school, along the way blowing the horn and waving at people just to make them laugh. He never met a stranger nor a hot dog he didn’t like.

He was kind, witty and the best father you could ever ask for. He will be dearly missed by his children, family and friends that were involved in his life and for those whom weren’t have truly missed out.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Joann Turner whom we lost just a short year and half ago, 1 sister, 3 brothers and his loving “mommy”.

He is survived by his loving daughter Tena Marshall and husband Chris Marshall of Bristol, VA; Loving sons Steve and wife Mary Ann Turner of Bristol, VA; Chris Turner of Bristol, VA; Tony Turner of Bristol, TN; Special Friend Katrina Greer of Bristol TN; Daughter figure Krista Turner of Bristol, TN and John and family.

Grandchildren whom loved him dearly: Christian Marshall and Fiancé Chandra Charles; Connor, Madi and Cylie Marshall; Morgan Turner; Joanna, PJ, Stephanie, and Madelyn Turner; Bruce Elam and great grandchildren: Emma Turner; Parker and Jaxson Elam. Sister Anita Jenkins of NY and several nieces, nephew, dear friends and his beloved dog “Rudy”.

The family of Mr. Philip Turner would like to say a special thank you to the nurses, PCT and Respiratory Therapist of IMU of 3300 for their kindness and loving care they showed our father and family the last week of his life. He will be buried at Susong Cemetery with his wife and family members close by.

Please join us for his “Celebration of Life” on 8/18/19 at 2:00 pm at Steele’s Creek, 4 Little Lane, Bristol, TN at the Lodge Shelter.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”
