Phillip Neal Mullins, 73, of Kingsport, TN, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center (Kingsport, TN), after an extended period of illness. Mr. Mullins was born March 10, 1941 in Dickenson County, VA. He was the son of the late Letcher and Opal Mullins. For 38 years, Mr. Mullins was employed as a pressman at the Kingsport Press. Mr. Mullins was also an avid farmer and was well-known all around for his excavating work. He also greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle, but, most of all, he was a loving husband, daddy, and papaw to his family, and a friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Lola Turner; and a great granddaughter, Kylie Hickman. Survivors of Phillip Neal Mullins include his loving wife of 51 years, Pebble Mullins (Kingsport, TN); daughter, Kimberly Mullins (Kingsport, TN); grandson, Phillip Hickman and wife Kala (Kingsport, TN); great granddaughter, Adalyne Hickman; 1 expected great grandchild; 2 foster grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; 3 sisters, Christine Poe (Coeburn, VA), Susan Rose and husband Donnie (Coeburn, VA), and Margaret Hodge and husband Richard (St. Paul, VA); several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. The family of Phillip Neal Mullins will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Trinity Memorial Centers (1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, TN). A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Brian Rose will officiate and Steve Perry will present a eulogy. Music will be provided by family and friends. An entombment service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park mausoleum at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Trinity Memorial Centers no later than 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Phillip Hickman, Anthony Marcus, Emerson White, Kendall Monroe, Ray Miller, and Bo Miller will serve as pallbearers.
