Paul Hutchens

July 31, 1953 - May 05, 2021

Paul Manuel Hutchens, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2021, in Bristol, TN. He was born on July 31, 1953, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to Ire and Katheryn Hutchens. He married Teresa (Keesee) Hutchens on September 16, 1974, being married for 46 years.

Paul was a dedicated and hard worker throughout his life. His last employer was Emory and Henry College where he worked as a Locksmith for 26 years before he retired in 2016. He developed several close friendships and was loved by many of his coworkers. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, and pitching horseshoes with his friends at Tumbling Creek Campground in Saltville, VA. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; watching westerns, talking with others over a cup of coffee, and working outside around his home. Paul loved to dance to the oldies, with the twist being his signature move.

Paul loved his wife and children and held multiple roles in his grandson’s life as a grandfather, a father figure, and a best friend. His family will carry him in their hearts until they meet again. His smile, charming blue eyes, and contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his wife, Teresa Hutchens; his children, Paul Hutchens Jr., and Candice L. Hutchens; grandson, Nathaniel L. Booher; sisters, Loretta Lunsford, Judy Adkins and husband James Adkins, and Joyce Wilson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul is preceded in death by his brothers Larry Hutchens, Roger Hutchens, Gene Hutchens, Ray Hutchens, Luther Hutchens, Richard Hutchens; sister Nina Hutchens.

A visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial Center Saturday, May 8th from 12:00 – 1:00. The funeral service will follow. Pastor Donnie Shaffer will be officiating. Everyone will meet at East TN cemetery in Bloutville for a 3:00 graveside.
