Paul Jackson Carter, age 85, of Church Hill, TN, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Mabe, VA, to the late William and Ellen Carter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Sivert; and his four brothers, Milford, Mack, Emmitt, and Billy Carter.
Paul was a beloved husband for over 64 years to Helen (Scott) Carter and a proud veteran of the United States Army. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he became a professional truck driver who was recognized for having over three million accident-free miles. In addition, Paul was highly skilled in carpentry and had a vast knowledge of most things mechanical. He, his wife, and several beloved friends formed a Gospel group that traveled locally, singing and sharing the Word of God.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Helen; his children, Paula (Willard), Kenny, Landon (Kaylie), and Ragan; his grandchildren, Kara (Steve), Ashley (Marcus), Tia (Scott), and Kelsey; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner, Kaleb, Caiden, and Nova; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Service to honor Paul's life will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Trinity Memorial Centers, located at 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660, with Charles Keesee and Mark Stapleton officiating. A gathering of friends and family will start at 5:00 PM and last until the time of service.
Interment will take place in Mountain Home National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's name to help veterans at <http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org>.
