Orpha Maude Compton

May 21, 1925 — April 8, 2023

Orpha "Rusty" Maude Russell Compton, left her earthly body to dance in the heavens with Jesus Saturday, April 8th 2023 at the age of 97.
Rusty was a faithful servant of God, a fierce protector of her family, and the best baker of corny-corn bread in East Tennessee. She loved spending time with her family and made sure anyone who visited left with a full belly and fruit turnovers for the trip home. She could often be found tending to her rose bushes or praising Jesus at her home church. Wherever you found her, you could be sure she was not sitting down, she was a ball of energy!
Rusty and her soulmate, Rudolph, resided in the city of Kingsport, where together they had 3 beautiful children: Gregory, Diane, and Kimberly. They married November 27th of 1952 and remained madly in love for 70 years. They taught their children to love unconditionally, respect everyone, the importance of an honest day's work, and above all to honor the Lord. Words cannot describe the compassion and integrity these two encompass. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Rudy and Rusty were witness to the abundance of love they shared with each other and their unwavering enthusiasm to make everyone feel welcome. It is only fitting they were welcomed into the gates of heaven on the same day, just 8 short hours apart. Although they will be dearly missed, their loved ones find comfort that their love story continues into eternity.
Rusty is survived by her son, Gregory Compton and Janice of Kennesaw, GA; daughter, Diane Blevins and Chester of Surgoinsville, TN; daughter, Kimberly Compton of Kingsport, TN; Grandchildren, Laura, Matthew, Jordon, and Caitlin; and great-grandchildren, Austen, Coulter, Carter, Cohen, Nolan, Ellis, and Nora; brother, Reverend Luther Russell and Emma Lou of Church Hill, TN; brother, JC Russell and Nancy of Church Hill, TN; sister, Virginia Cradic and Charles of Kingsport, TN; sister, Connie Dykes and Rollin of Mt. Carmel, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced for a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ or the National Hospice Foundation.
The family would like to thank the care givers of Virginia's Garden at the Village of Allandale and Gentiva Hospice of Kingsport for being a comforting presence for Rusty and the family during this difficult time.
This obituary is lovingly written by the Compton family. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve them.
