Naomi Vera Fields

Vera Fields, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 23rd, 2023.

She was born in Hiltons, Va and was a lifetime resident of Kingsport, TN. She was known for her vibrant personality and work ethic having careers that comprised of Southern Airlines, legal and medical administrative assistant, Red Cross Andrew Jackson clinic nurse, World Book encyclopedia, Avon, Nettie Lee and The Shade Shoppe. Her longest career was creating a life filled with wonderful memories and adventures as wife to her loving husband, Thomas E. Fields, Sr.; mother to Tommy, Selena and Tina. She allowed many pets, from dogs and cats to a flying squirrel and Rascal the ground hog. There was never a dull moment with Vera leading the way - spontaneously creating a garage carnival for all the neighborhood kids to numerous birthday parties.

She was affectionately known as Mamaw to Rachel Fields Pentz, Thomas E Fields, III, Tiffany Fields Jenkins, Macy Fain Galyon, Jackson Fain, Harrison Fain and her 11 great grandchildren.
She was also a lifetime member of the First Church of God/Kingsport Community Church where she was active as a choir member for over 60 years as well as a 2nd grade Sunday school teacher and VBS teacher. She loved her church dearly and created wonderful memories from her years spent serving her loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

Preceding Vera in death were her parents, William Robert "Rob" Shivley and Nellie Mae Gardner Shivley; her wonderful husband, Thomas E. Fields, Sr; son, Tommy Fields; brothers, Bud Shivley and Jim Shivley; sister in laws and her lifelong friend Mabel Bright.

She is survived by her two daughters, Selena Fields of Crestview, Fl and Tina Fields Fain of Knoxville Tn; son in law Paul Fain who she adored, daughter in law Jacquita Fields Coulter; Two very special sisters who made sure she was also taken cared of in her later years, Angelene Shivley Vance and Darlene Shivley Byrd; her brother Andy Shivley; sister-in-law, Evelyn Fields Mckinney and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 28th at 1 pm at Trinity Memorial Center- Kingsport with special friend, Pastor Mark Stayton officiating.
