Nancy Joyce Stevens

April 2, 1952 — January 13, 2016

Nancy Joyce Stevens, 63, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Johnson City Medical Center following a short illness. She began her military career in the Army after graduating high school in Tecumseh, MI. She traveled the world during her time in the military, going to places like Israel, Turkey, Okinawa, and South Korea. She was a veteran of the Gulf War and also received the National Defense Service Medal. After retiring from the military, she worked for Toys R Us for 15 years. In 2000, she moved to Kingsport, TN where she met her best friend, Robin Oaks, while working at Arbys. Nancy was a breast cancer survivor. She loved animals and enjoyed volunteering to rescuing cats. Nancy was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; and parents, Charles and Betty Stevens. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jlain Etherton; sisters, Ginger and husband, Rick Pelletier, Cindi and husband, Eddie Barrett, and Robin and husband, Earl Oaks; niece, Jazmine Barrett; and two grand daughters. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 3-5pm at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 5pm with Pastor Chad Roberts of Preaching Christ Church officiating. Interment will be held at Mountain Home VA National Cemetery on Monday, January 18 at 10am with military honors. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Stevens.
