Helen Arlene Dennis Calhoun, 76, of Kingsport went to be with Jesus and her son on Wednesday (April 29, 2015). Born July 22, 1938 to the late Buck & Alice Dennis, in Albermarle, NC. Helen left a legacy of her love for God, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy Lee Calhoun; seven sisters, Margie, Mabel, Pearlie Dennis, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Ruby "Kathlean" McClung, Minnie Ruth Reynolds, & Juanita Billings; five brothers, Mack, Allen, Truman, Odell, & Henry Dennis. She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Edsel Calhoun; two daughters, Anita Gay Brummett and husband Clarence, and Arlene "Anne" White; three grandchildren, Victoria Brummett, Melissa Brummett Simpson and husband Kenney, and Daniel Bishop; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Simpson Spellar and husband Kevin, Austin Simpson, Kimberly Simpson, Landon Tankersley, Ashley Tankersley; two "of the heart great-grandchildren", Robbbie Lee Krug, and Nadesta Simpson; one beloved brother, John Dennis; and beloved sister-in-law, Glenna Absher; and many in-laws. The family will receive friends on Saturday (May 2, 2015) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Vern Hall officiating. The family will also receive friends anytime at 501 Lucy Road, Kingsport. and 3348 Lightwood St., Kingsport. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and to Dr. Peter Platzer for all of his love and care.
