Roger Clyde Hammond, 72, from Ft. Blackmore, gained his wings on Saturday (June 6, 2015). He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Roger was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and football. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Jean Hammond; and maternal grandfather, Ray Hammond. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Phyllis Barrett Hammond; three sons, Roger Hammond, Jr., Tony & wife Charity Hammond, and Daniel & wife Laura Russell; one daughter, Lise Hammond Wolfe & husband Kenny; two stepsons, Albert & wife Mae Arnold and Ricky Arnold; two stepdaughters, Beverly & husband Larry Turner, and Lisa & husband Larry Hunley; 13 grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Dalton, Justin, Seth, Sarah, Alison, Rachel, Holdon, Janey, Christopher, Adrian, and Tanner; six great-grandchildren, Christian, Trista, Alexis, Violet, Atlee, and Layla; one brother, Freddie Osborne, of Gate City; devoted friend, John Ketron; and a host of friends.
