James David Tucker, 74, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday (May 22, 2015) at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born on September 12,1940 in Coeburn, VA to the late Bascom and Beldia Tucker. James was a loving brother, father, and grandfather whose heart showed unconditional love. James never met a stranger and always had kinds words to say to everyone he met. James lived his life serving the Lord. He was a long time member of Christian Life Center. He loved going to the flea market, being outdoors, and going to eat breakfast at Hardees on John B. He played the banjo with Lee Smith, and voluntarily played at local nursing homes. In addition to his parents, James was proceeded in death by his little brother, Billy Tucker. James is survived by his three children, Donna & husband Larry Clark of Florida, Elaine Taylor of Connecticut, and James Tucker Jr. of Kingsport; ten grandchildren, T.J. & Amy Marshall of Church Hill, Brandon & Peggy Marshall of Kingsport, Cotey & Mackenzie Books of Kingsport, Chris & Anna Williamson of Texas, and Lindsey & Darren Slaymaker of Florida; he loved his eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Chace, Aleah, Peyton & Khloe Marshall, Hayden Cox, Hayleigh Books, and Xyza Slaymaker; special sister, Dolly Gibson of Coeburn; special brother, Don & Sylvia Tucker of Honaker; sisters, Shirley & Harold Turner of Mocassin ,Frances Tucker of Coeburn, and Nancy & James Trent of Coeburn; special niece, Elizabeth & Glen Mullins; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (May 27, 2015) at Trinity Memorial Centers (1221 Stewball Circle Kingsport) from noon until 2 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm with Brother Keith Barker officiating. The committal service will follow at the Gillenwater family cemetery (7871 Yuma Road Gate City). Pallbearers will be T.J. Marshall, Cotey Books, Brandon Marshall, James Simpson, Jason Dingus, and Cody Roberts. The family would like to sincerely thank Christian Life Center, Gravely Baptist, Higher Ground, and Martin Bagwell for helping make "Papaws" wishes come true.
