Mr. Howard John Osborn, 84, passed away on Monday (August 31, 2015). He was born in Dearborn, Michigan on September 30, 1930 to the late Arlie and Sophie Osborn. He served in the Air Force, had a law degree, and a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Osborn worked at NASA as a patent attorney. His claim to fame, Mr. Osborn patented the first hang glider. He was an avid hunter, as well as a safari hunter. Mr. Osborn had many accomplishments and he was very well traveled. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Sophie Osborn; infant daughter, Denise Osborn; daughter, Lisa Seltzer; and brothers, Paul and Bob Osborn. Mr. Osborn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rachel Osborn; children, Vicky Whittman (Al), Gail Zigienbien (Perry), Stephen Osborn (Michelle) and Forrest Osborn; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Palmer Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Home (6020 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, Michigan 48917). Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (444 West Grand River Avenue, Lansing, Michigan).
