Gary Wayne Greer, 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (July 21, 2015). He was a proud member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Gary enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. Gary never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his contagious smile, and his bright blue eyes. He was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, George "Baldy" & Louise Greer; infant son, Adam; and two sisters, Kathy & husband Darrell Bright and Mary "Doughdy" Peters. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judy Carol Greer; two daughters, Aleishia "Buckie" & husband Mark Johnston and Mary Beth & husband Stephen Hicks; six grandchildren, Christopher "C.J." Greer, Nicolas Hicks, Madison Hicks, Abigail Hicks, Taylor and Tripp Johnston; sister, Laura & husband Johnny Ball; two brothers, Larry & wife Jan Greer and A.J. & wife Joyce Greer; father-in-law, John Barbour, Sr.; brother-in-law, John Barbour, Jr. & wife Judy Lynn; two sisters-in-law, Cathy "Cat" Sells and Susan Howell ; close family and best friends, Allen & wife April Castle and Mark Green; maternal uncle, R.B. Ferguson & wife Nancy; paternal uncle, Millard "Pune" Greer & wife Jean; 8 nieces; 13 nephews; 16 great-nieces; 8 great-nephews; 2 future great-nephews; a future great-niece that he loved each and everyone; he loved his brothers and sisters of the Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday (July 25, 2015) at Calvary Baptist Church (1238 Pine St. Kingsport) from 5 to 6 pm. The funeral service will follow with Pastors Donnie Brannen and Mikel Caywood officiating. Special music by CrossWise. The committal service will be held Sunday (July 26, 2015) at Depews Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery (2950 Reservior Rd.) at 1:30pm. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at Calvary Baptist Church at 1 pm. to go in procession.
