Mike Russell, 64, passed peacefully on October 14, 2018 at his Tennessee home with his wife and son by his side. Mike was born in Marietta, Ohio on December 26, 1953 to Don and Eileen Russell and is a member of the Marietta Senior High School Class of 1972. He remained in Marietta until retirement, when he and Nancy moved to Crystal River, Florida, then later relocated to Tennessee to be near their son. On November 29,1974, he married Nancy Archer and the two were later blessed with two sons; Scott Michael and William Donald. Mike was a master craftsman, and worked in many homes throughout the Mid Ohio Valley as The House Doctor. Throughout his carpentry career he worked alongside numerous people who became lifelong, treasured friends. Mike was also a dedicated youth soccer coach, respected community member, and avid outdoorsman. He was known by many from the Ohio Valley to Ocracoke Island as "The Legend", a well deserved title earned by his accomplishments as an angler. However, his greatest joy was having his sons on his crew, both on land and water, where he instilled in them his priceless wisdom, passion and witty sense of humor. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Walter and Martha Archer; Son, Will; granddaughter Asiah Skye Barnette; and siblings,Dave Russell and wife Cathy and Jim Apple and wife Janet. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; son, Scott Russell and Dawn Burrell of Kingsport, Tennessee; granddaughters Lexi Russell and Kyle E Oliver of Marietta, Ohio; Ann and Gene Mullen and Dan and Erica Archer of Marietta, Ohio; Jane and Chuck Mooney of Ft. Worth, Texas; Sally and Guy Newell of Southern Shores, North Carolina; and Bill and Jeanette Archer of Batavia, Ohio; as well as countless other family members and friends that touched Mike's life over the years. In accordance to Mike's wishes, no services will be held at this time. His family and friends will celebrate his life in the near future and for years to come.
