Michael Lee Johnson, 63, of Church Hill, TN, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022.
Mike “Mobil” was born and raised in the Smith Creek area of Virginia. His family moved to the Church Hill area when he was young. He went to Carters Valley Elementary School and Church Hill High School. Right after high school, he married the love of his life, Janet Lee Pennington, and the couple had two children, Holly Lee and Dakota Lee Johnson. Mobil was known for driving fast. He loved Nascar, Dale Earnhardt, motorcycles, and cars. He also enjoyed all outdoor activities and Boy Scouts Troop 373. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.
Mike worked at the rock quarry in Kingsport; APAC Paving, and lastly, Giibson’s Heat Treating.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Bub Johnson, and his maternal grandparents, Coy and Virginia McCroskey, who he stayed with every summer as a boy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-one years, Janet Johnson; daughter, Holly Fields (John); son, Dakota Johnson (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Grayson Fields, Dawson Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Blake Lee Johnson; mother, Carol Johnson; sister, Tammy Dotson (Jeff); brother, Shane Johnson; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 PM with a Celebration of Life following on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Vision Missionary Baptist Church, Carters Valley Road, Church Hill, TN (beside Dollar General).
In lieu of flowers, Mike would prefer that you spend time with your family in his honor.
