Matthew Scott Casey

June 16, 1991 - June 13, 2020

Matthew Scott Casey, 28, of Bristol, TN, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Matthew was born in Johnson CIty to Chris Casey and Heather Boyd on June 16th 1991. He was a 2009 graduate of Sullivan East High School and worked in home security sales for 5 years.

He was a fun and loving father to two sons, Braxton and Corban Casey. Video games, fishing, golfing, swimming, he was so proud of time with his boys. He was also a loving husband to wife Courtney Casey, whom he wed in March of 2015. Through the struggles and uncertainties that life threw at them, they never gave up on each other. He never stopped trying or wanting better for their family. His eyes lit up different, his smile wider. He didn’t believe in failure, only opportunity to learn and try again.

In Matthews journey here on Earth, he was full of life and loved to make others laugh. Telling stories with such humor in his voice or making up lyrics on the spot to one of your favorite songs or even to a simple beat and fill it with lyrics of his life and God. He fearlessly lived for adventure whether it came from a motorcycle, a snowboard, or unfamiliar territory.

He was a man of God. A soldier here on Earth to go out and speak truth and be a living example to many. He overcame many hardships and won difficult battles in life and gave all glory to God. His testimony has and will always inspire all that come in contact with him. He has led many people in his short time. He was a light in a dark and crowded room.

He always said when he passed away he knew where he was going. He didn’t fear death. His mission here was to bring as many people as he could to Jesus. To tell his story. To be a good husband, father, son, and friend. Though his life ended sooner than what we can understand, he fulfilled his purpose, more than he probably realized. He would not want us to cry for him. For he is with us always. God selects few to be his soldiers as with faith, I believe he needed Matthew to prepare him for battle.

Preceding Matthew in death is his “Poppy”, Charlie Casey.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Courtney; sons, Braxton & Corban; father, Chris Casey and wife Lisa; mother, Heather Booher Boyd; siblings, Hanna Casey, Ethan Casey, MacKinsey Boyd; Mamaw, Wilma Casey; grandmother, Linda Bowman; grandfather, Joe Booher. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved deeply. The service and burial for Matthew Scott Casey, will be private and held at a later date.

Pallbearers include Brett Harper, Aaron Frye, Ryan Frye, Jacob Booher, Jonathan “DJ” Outen, and Charles Nichols.

Honorary pallbearer will be his father, Chris Casey.

Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
