Mary Jo Peters moved from her earthly residence to her new eternal home February 25, 2025, at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death and reunited with her parents, Bascom and Mae (Taylor) Peters; brothers, Allen Peters (Thelma), Preston Peters (Elizabeth), Cecil Peters, and Claude Peters; sisters, Dorothy Adinolfi (Sal), Wanda Peters, and Dana Bowen (Paul).
Left to mourn her absence are her brothers, Harlan Peters (Velma), Gary (Bill) Peters (Barbara), and Nelson Peters (Brenda); sister, Judy Peters; sister-in-law, Ruth Peters; and special great-niece: Hannah Herrin (Andrew).
Mary Jo was loved and adored by her family for her sweet-spirited nature, selflessness, and servitude. She devoted her life as a caregiver to her parents and brother, and her many nephews and nieces.
She had no children of her own but was a precious aunt to all her nephews and nieces. She was often a babysitter, mentor, and fill- in mom. Those who loved her most, will cherish the memories she created by her love and care earning Mary Jo the nicknames of JoJo and Special Jo.
The family wishes to thank two very special people in Mary Jo's life for the joy and love they gave her. Special thanks to Hannah Herrin, her great niece, who she helped raise and thought of Mary Jo as a mom, and her cousin Shirley Tipton, who was like a sister. They spent a lot of time together.
It was Mary Jo's wishes to be cremated. The family will announce a Memorial service in the near future.
