Mark Leftwich Whipple, 66, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Born in Lee County, Virginia, to William and Myrtle Whipple, Mark grew up in Jonesville. After high school, he achieved his bachelors degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He was a long-time fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Virginia Tech Hokies. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Whipple and Michael Whipple. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Mark Whipple II, Brittany White (Cyle), Alex Ellis (Dustin); grandchildren, Tennessee and Maddilynn Ellis, Clark and Samuel White; siblings, Fred Egly (Sandra), Carol Wyatt (Ronnie); many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; beloved friends, Larry “Cotton” Martin (Sandy) and Barbara Mullins, as well as many others. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Cumberland Bowl Park in Jonesville, Virginia. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Fishtrap Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations to offset funeral expenses can be made in Marks name to Trinity Memorial Centers.
