The world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Oma) and great grandmother (Urgrossmutter), Marianne Hicks, on June 30th, 2023. She died surrounded by her two sons, Mark-Alexander, and Michael at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City Tennessee, after a short illness.
Marianne was born in Neu-Isenburg, Germany on August 17th, 1942. She was a homemaker and business entrepreneur. She loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, co-workers, dogs, and cats. She loved being independent till the end and was still working a job with a 45-minute commute. She loved her hilltop home, where she fell in love with the beautiful Appalachian Mountains that reminded her of Germany.
Marianne loved her 40-year friendship, that started in band boosters at David Crockett High School, with Patty Neas and Lynn Combs. They stayed connected after the band events ended. They got together for dinners, trips, JRT-USO shows, and other special events.
She is survived by her two sons Mark-Alexander Hicks, Sr (Megan Hicks), and Michael Hicks, six grandchildren Kayla Nichols (Caleb Nichols), Mark-Alexander Hicks, Jr, Isaac Hicks, Oliver Hicks, Henry Hicks, and Charlotte Hicks, and two great grandchildren Paisley Hicks and Oaklynn Nichols. Brother Helmut Brodt and niece Birgit Menzel.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Vester Hicks, and both her parents Anna "Uhl" Brodt and Wilhelm Brodt.
A Service and interment will take place Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tennessee on August 17th, at 11 am.
