Malcolm Smith

January 6, 1953 — December 22, 2020

Malcolm David Smith, 67, passed away in his home on December 22, 2020 in Kingsport surrounded by his family. Malcolm was born in 1953 on an Air Force base in Burtonwood, England. Malcolm was a lifelong member of the Church of England. Malcolm came to Kingsport in 1986 after serving in the United States Air Force and made Kingsport his home. Malcolm worked for LaFerney Roofing for the last 17 years until recent health issues forced him to retire, but he leaves behind many coworkers for whom he had great affection. Malcolm had a passion for music and his family, and passes to this next place knowing he lived his life to the fullest. Malcolm was preceded in death by his father, Samuel David Smith; his mother Ursula Smith; and his brother Michael Smith. Surviving are his loving wife, Carolyn; four children, Kelly (Jason) Lang, Tom (Callie) Keeler, Vicky (Adam) Crawford, Sherry (Jared) Pritchard; fourteen grandchildren; niece Carmen Smith; and many extended family members and close friends. The family will host a celebration of Malcolm's life at his home on December 31, 2020 at 7pm, to honor his memory in a way Malcolm would appreciate. A military service will take place at Mountain Home at a later date. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
