Lewis Robert Blankenship, 56, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord from a sudden illness on Saturday, May 12, 2018. He had spent the last 20 years in Kingsport. He was born in Grundy, Virginia and he had also lived in Ohio. He had attended Free Gift Gospel Mission where Pastor Vern Hall is the pastor. He tinkered with things and loved his time with family at cookouts. He is preceded in death by his children, Kevin Street and Jennifer Blankenship; mother, Hazel Blankenship; father, Robert Blankenship; Julia Horn, Harrison Blankenship, Lewis Blankenship and Mary Elizabeth Blankenship; brothers, Johnny Blankenship and Gary Blankenship; and nephew, Lankus Troy Meadows. Survivors include his son, Robert Blankenship; grandchildren, Ian Jones Blankenship and Liam Blankenship; sisters, Elizabeth Hall, Betty Col and, Lisa Blankenship; brothers, Ronnie Blankenship, Billy Blankenship, Mark Blankenship and Timmy Cox; significant other, Sandra Blankenship and her child, Bobbie Blankenship; Rebecca Karnes and Amanda Mullins; daughters he had raised, Elizabeth Baker, Fiona Cox, and her children, Shane Steele and Mason Steele; and grandchildren he has raised, Gavin Freeman and Ryan Baker. Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Shades of Grace United Methodist Church (Kingsport, TN). A memorial service is to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Will Shewey officiating. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to be serving the family of Lewis Blankenship.
