Lawrence Alvin Winegar Jr.

October 01, 1941 - June 20, 2019

Lawrence Alvin Winegar Jr., 77, of Gray, TN, went home to be with the Lord after a short illness, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center on Thursday, June 20 2019. He was born in Scott County, VA and lived in the Gray area for 45 years. After graduating from Lynn View High School he enlisted in the U.S. army, served in Vietnam, and retired from Eastman Kodak. He loved hunting, fishing, and was of the Baptist Faith. Lawrence was also a lifelong member of the Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence “Bud” and Lena Winegar; sister, Vivian Winegar; best friend (like-a-brother), Albert Spangler; In-Laws, Wilbur and Hazel Watkins, and W. Alan Watkins

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Winegar; daughter, Kristin (Gary) Tester; grand daughter, Brionah Tester; grandson, Lucas Tester; sisters, Janice (Bill) Matlock and Teresa (Keith) Pendleton; special aunt, Annie Winegar; nieces Sherri (Rod) Monroe and Patricia (Mark) Gibbons; nephews, Chris (Jeannie), Jon (Amanda) and Josh (Haley) Pendleton; several great nieces and nephews; “Brotherly Friends” Vern, Hobbert, Porky, Jessie, and Chuck.

Pallbearers will be Chris Pendleton, Jon Pendleton, Josh Pendleton, Gary Tester, Lucas Tester, Jadiyah Lewis, Chuck Riddle, and Logan Stockman.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June, 27th from 5pm-7pm with services to follow at 7 at Trinity Memorial with Pastor Kasey Lawson officiating.

Military Honors will be provided at 10am Friday June 28th at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN by American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City post #265.
