Mountain Home- Kurt L. “Pappy” Stevenson Sr. born in Richlands, Virginia and living in Gray, Tennessee for over 50 years passed on Friday, September 22 at the age of 86. He went to meet his Lord surrounded by loving family while at Mountain Home Veterans Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. The family wants to give sincere thanks to all the doctors and nurses of the ICU and Hospice units for giving him the best of care. He is survived by Alma Duncan Stevenson, his wife of 64 years, daughter Patty Stevenson, son Kurt L Stevenson Jr, daughters Beth Stevenson and Leta Winters. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and others he loved as family. Kurt was a former U.S. Army Corporal in the Korean War and loved his God and his family. The family of Kurt L. “Pappy” Stevenson will receive friends from 2pm-4pm on Sunday, September 24 at Bethany Evangelical Presbyterian Church with services to begin at 4pm with Pastor Chuck Echols officiating. Military graveside rites will be given Monday, September 25 at 2pm at Snyders Memorial Gardens with American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Active pallbearers will be Kurt L. Stevenson Jr., Joshua Stevenson, Nathaniel Stevenson, Brian Peters, Brian Winters, Milton Stevenson, and Steven Fox. Honorary pallbearers Pete Duncan and Jim Duncan. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
