Kim Meade Fales

Kimberly (Kim) Meade Fales, 54, passed away at home peacefully Friday evening, November 7, 2014, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Kim was born February 11, 1960 in Kingsport, the daughter of the late Frances Ruth Meade and the late Paul Harold Meade. She grew up in Kingsport, was a 1977 graduate of Sullivan Central High School, and attended East Tennessee State University. While attending college, Kim also worked at Skoby's restaurant, and it was there that she met her future husband, whom she married in 1984. They moved several times over the ensuing years to numerous cities throughout the United States, and lived for three years in both London, England, and Singapore. Kim returned to Kingsport in 2003, where she spent the rest of her life. Kim was an energetic, upbeat person who brightened the day of everyone she met. She was an exceptional cook, an enthusiastic gardener, and a dedicated volunteer. Her charitable work included activities for Therapy Dogs International, Shepard Center, American Church in London Soup Kitchen, American Women's Club, American Club of Singapore, and numerous other organizations over the years. In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her sister, Paula Lynn Kendrick. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jonathan Learn Fales; her son, Graham Conrath Fales; her sisters, Sharon Renee Breeding and Susan Ann Penley, all of Kingsport; nieces Adrienne Brooke Pilkenton, Lauren Beth Penley; nephews Andrew Michael Douthat, Blake Landon Penley, and Garrett Lee Kendrick; and very special friends Bo and Judy Grover, and Penny Gray. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wellmont Hospice, who provided wonderful and caring support for the last months of Kim's life. A memorial service celebrating Kim's life will be held Monday evening, November 10, at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home, (423)723-8177, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, from 6 pm to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the SBK Animal Shelter, 2141 Idle Hour Rd, Kingsport TN 37660.
