Kenneth Wayne Amyx

Kenneth Wayne Amyx, 56, passed away at his residence on Wednesday (July 30) surrounded by his family and friends after an extended illness. He was a former member of the Army National Reserves. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. He was a Putt-Putt competitor. He loved racing go-karts, watching Nascar and Dirt Track racing. He enjoyed fishing, and CB radios. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iva Christian Amyx; sister, Regina Amyx Hawkins; mother in law, Jeanne Bishop; and brother in law Barney Vaughn. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie Bishop Amyx of the home; father, Ray H. Amyx; brother, Ray Amyx, Jr.; sisters Sharon and husband T.J. Jones of Virginia, Debbie Amyx Byington of Kingsport; father-in-law, Joe and wife Bobbie Speer Bishop of Kingsport; sister-in-laws, JoAnne and husband Kimsey Toliver of Kingsport, and Brenda Vaughn of Kingsport; a great host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express gratitude to special care givers Tori Collins, Brittany Peters, and Wellmont Hospice. Per Mr. Amyxs wishes the family will have a private memorial service.
